Position Summary
We are seeking a friendly, organized, and compassionate Part-Time Bilingual (Spanish) Administrative Assistant to be the heartbeat of our daily office operations and work closely supporting our Development and Volunteer Services Departments. You will be the first voice neighbors hear and the first face they see, making every interaction count.
The ideal candidate is someone who lights up when they help others. They are fluent in English and Spanish, administratively sharp, and deeply committed to treating every person who walks through our doors with dignity, respect, and genuine care.

St. Vincent de Paul Long Island (SVDPLI) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving those in need throughout Nassau and Suffolk Counties. With compassion at our core we deliver direct, person-to-person assistance where it’s needed most. We offer financial aid, furniture, food, clothing, and other essential resources to help individuals and families facing hardship regain their footing, restore their dignity, and move toward stability.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greet and assist visitors with warmth and professionalism.
- Answer and direct incoming phone calls.
- Support neighbors calling for assistance by gathering information and connecting them to the right resources.
- Enter and maintain accurate data, records, and databases.
- Prepare correspondence, mailings, and administrative materials.
- Provide day-to-day administrative support to the Development and Volunteer Services departments.
- Handle filing, copying, scanning, and document preparation.
- Sort and process incoming and outgoing mail.
- Keep the office and reception area organized and well-stocked.
- General office tasks
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
- Fluent in both English and Spanish (required)
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of administrative or office experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and basic computer applications
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Professional, dependable, and customer-service oriented
- Experience working in a nonprofit or social service environment is a plus

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Normal office requirements with long periods of standing and sitting
- Ability to work at a computer for extended period of time
- Must be able to frequently walk up and down stairs
- Must be able to lift more than 25 lbs. and assist others to do the same.
- Must be available to work occasional nights/weekends to cover events and meetings.
PAY RANGE: $20-$23 per hour, Hours 10am-3pm, Monday-Friday.
