Manufacturing Engineer – CNC & Process Development

Position Overview
A growing manufacturing organization is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support machining operations, process development, and production efficiency initiatives. This role plays a key part in bridging engineering and manufacturing by developing processes, supporting CNC operations, and driving continuous improvement across the shop floor.
The ideal candidate has strong machining knowledge, experience with CNC programming, and a hands-on approach to solving production challenges in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Manufacturing & Production Support
- Develop and maintain manufacturing bills, routings, and process documentation within the ERP system
- Design and implement tooling and fixtures, coordinating fabrication internally or through external vendors
- Troubleshoot production issues in collaboration with manufacturing, quality, engineering, and supply chain teams
- Support resolution of nonconforming materials from both internal production and suppliers
- Define and document manufacturing processes to ensure consistent and efficient production
- Review engineering changes and update associated manufacturing documentation accordingly
- Evaluate and recommend equipment to support production capacity, safety, and efficiency goals
- Partner with CNC teams to develop and optimize machining processes for new and existing components
- Monitor equipment performance and analyze data to improve uptime and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE)
- Create and maintain operation-level drawings and shop documentation using CAD tools
- Interpret technical drawings and GD&T requirements to support manufacturing execution
- Assist with cost estimation for labor, materials, and production processes
CNC Programming & Process Development
- Support CNC programming activities, including editing and creating programs as needed
- Set up and optimize machining processes for complex parts, including multi-axis (5-axis) operations
- Utilize CAM software (e.g., Esprit or similar) to support programming and process improvements
- Develop and refine manufacturing processes with a focus on efficiency, quality, and repeatability
- Design fixtures and workholding solutions to improve manufacturability and throughput
- Establish process controls and key production metrics to ensure consistent output
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with engineering teams on product design, manufacturability, and new product introduction
- Partner with quality teams to define inspection methods and support compliance requirements
- Collaborate with sourcing and supply chain on make/buy decisions and supplier capabilities
- Provide technical input to support quoting and customer-related inquiries
- Support shop floor teams in resolving issues related to tooling, materials, and production flow
Continuous Improvement
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and improve quality
- Conduct time studies and analyze workflows to identify opportunities for efficiency gains
- Apply Lean manufacturing principles and best practices to optimize processes
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field preferred
- Experience in a manufacturing or machining-focused engineering role
- Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks or similar)
- Experience with CNC machining processes and programming concepts
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T principles
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, etc.)
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with CAM software (e.g., Esprit or similar platforms)
- Familiarity with ERP systems in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing methodologies (Six Sigma, Kaizen, 5S, etc.)
- Experience working with rotating equipment or complex mechanical systems
Work Environment
- Split between office and manufacturing floor (approximately 50/50)
- Requires use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when working in production areas
- May involve occasional lifting (up to ~50 lbs) and working near active machinery
- Periodic travel to supplier locations may be required

Pay: $102,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
