We are currently looking for Pipe yard helpers for the day shift.
RESPONSIBILITIES (including authority)
- Assist in preparing steel components for coating by cleaning, masking, and preparing surfaces for blasting, ensuring compliance with AISC surface preparation standards and QP3 requirements.
- Aid in the setup and operation of abrasive blasting equipment, including blast pots, hoses, and nozzles, under the guidance of experienced blast operators while focusing on safety and efficiency.
- Assist painters in preparing and applying protective coatings to blasted steel surfaces, including mixing paints, loading spray guns, and performing touch-up work as directed, in accordance with manufacturer specifications and QP3 coating requirements.
- Participate in visual inspections of blasted and painted surfaces to ensure adherence to specified surface profiles, coating thicknesses, and visual appearance criteria outlined by AISC and QP3 standards, reporting any discrepancies to supervisors.
- Assist in the safe handling and transportation of steel components within the blast and paint department, use proper lifting equipment and techniques to prevent damage or injury, and maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Assist in maintaining and cleaning blast and paint equipment, including spray guns, hoses, and paint areas, to ensure optimal performance and longevity while following manufacturer recommendations and safety guidelines.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures during blast and paint operations, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), adherence to ventilation and containment measures, and participation in safety training activities as required.
- Assist in completing necessary paperwork and documentation related to blast and paint processes, including work orders, material usage records, inspection reports, and safety logs, in accordance with company policies and procedures.
C. ORGANIZATION RELATIONSHIPS Regardless of other duties, has a responsibility to follow CPS HOUSTON’s production, safety, and quality procedures.
D. REQUIREMENTS a) High school diploma or equivalent. At least one year of relevant work experience may be substituted for the required education.
b) Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred.
c) Basic understanding of surface preparation and coating application techniques.
d) Familiarity with AISC standards and QP3 requirements.
e) Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively as a team.
f) Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
g) Willingness to learn and perform physically demanding tasks in a fast-paced environment.
h) Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to safety regulations and best practices.
i) Ability to lift and move heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
j) Willingness to work outdoors and in varied weather conditions as required.
Pay: $14.00 - $15.00 per hour
