Physician-Led Hospital Medicine Practice Serving Behavioral Health Facilities
Care Well TX, PLLC is a physician-owned and physician-led practice dedicated to providing high-quality medical care in behavioral health settings throughout North Dallas and the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex.
We are seeking Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, and Med-Peds physicians to practice hospital medicine by providing medical management services for adult and adolescent patients in inpatient psychiatric hospitals and affiliated Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) clinics.
Our physicians work collaboratively with psychiatrists and multidisciplinary behavioral health teams while maintaining responsibility for the medical care of hospitalized patients. This opportunity offers the autonomy of independent practice with the support of an experienced physician-led organization.
Whether you're an experienced hospitalist or a physician looking to expand into behavioral health medicine, we provide orientation, administrative support, and a collaborative clinical environment designed to help you succeed.
Responsibilities
- Perform admission History & Physical examinations.
- Provide ongoing medical management for adult and adolescent psychiatric inpatients.
- Evaluate and treat acute and chronic medical conditions.
- Review laboratory and diagnostic results.
- Coordinate care with psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, nursing staff, therapists, case managers, and interdisciplinary treatment teams.
- Document patient encounters accurately and efficiently within the electronic medical record.
- Respond to changes in patient medical status.
- Provide medical coverage for affiliated Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) clinics as scheduled.
- Participate in a rotating weekend coverage schedule (minimum one weekend per month).
- Participate in shared overnight call during scheduled coverage.

Practice Structure
Physicians typically provide coverage for one inpatient psychiatric hospital and its affiliated PHP clinics.
Most facilities include:
- One inpatient psychiatric hospital
- One on-campus PHP clinic
- One to two affiliated off-campus PHP clinic locations
Physicians have flexibility in how they structure their daily workflow.
Some physicians prefer to personally round at all assigned locations, while others choose to utilize an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) for off-campus PHP clinic coverage when available.
We value physician autonomy and encourage providers to develop a workflow that best fits their individual practice style while maintaining exceptional patient care.
Schedule
Choose the schedule that best fits your lifestyle:
- 7 Days On / 7 Days Off
- Monday – Friday
- Additional shifts available for physicians interested in increasing productivity.
- Rotating weekend coverage (minimum one weekend each month).
- Shared overnight call during scheduled coverage. Call volume is typically light, averaging approximately 2–3 calls per shift.
Compensation
This is a 1099 Independent Contractor opportunity offering competitive productivity-based compensation with excellent earning potential.
Compensation is based on patient volume and services provided. Physicians enjoy the flexibility of independent contractor status while building a consistent patient census within established behavioral health facilities.
A typical inpatient daily census averages 20–25 patients, with opportunities for higher patient volumes for physicians who enjoy a busier practice and increased productivity.
Many physicians complete daily rounding efficiently, allowing flexibility in managing their schedules while continuing to provide exceptional patient care.
Additional compensation opportunities may be available based on facility assignments, coverage needs, and leadership responsibilities.
Specific compensation details will be discussed during the interview process.
