Position Summary
Lake Merritt Grocery Outlet is looking for friendly, dependable, and hardworking individuals to join our team as Cashiers. Our cashiers create a welcoming shopping experience by providing fast, accurate, and genuinely helpful service.
This is an active retail position. In addition to operating a register, cashiers help maintain clean checkout areas, return merchandise, assist customers, stock products, retrieve carts, and support other areas of the store as needed.
Key Responsibilities
● Greet every customer with a friendly and positive attitude.
● Provide fast, accurate, and courteous checkout service.
● Handle cash, debit, credit, EBT, coupons, and other forms of payment correctly.
● Follow all procedures for alcohol sales and age-restricted products.
● Bag merchandise carefully and efficiently.
● Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked checkout area.
● Answer customer questions and help locate products.
● Return unwanted merchandise to the proper departments.
● Assist with stocking, facing, cleaning, price checks, and cart retrieval.
● Report pricing issues, damaged products, spills, and safety concerns immediately.
● Protect company assets by following cash-handling and loss-prevention procedures.
● Work with urgency while maintaining accuracy and excellent customer service.
● Help maintain “Grand Opening” conditions throughout the store.
● Perform other duties as assigned by store leadership.

● Bilingual English/Spanish skills are helpful but not required.
Schedule Requirements
Applicants should have flexible availability, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Scheduling will be based on store needs and employee availability.
Physical Requirements
● Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
● Ability to bend, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive movements.
● Ability to regularly lift merchandise and occasionally lift up to 40 pounds.
● Reasonable accommodations may be provided to qualified individuals when needed.
