Position Summary
Florida State College at Jacksonville's Continuing Workforce Education department is seeking a qualified Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Instructor to teach the Nursing Assistant Training Program. The instructor will provide classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction that prepares students for the Florida Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) examination and entry-level employment in healthcare settings.
The ideal candidate is passionate about student success and committed to preparing future healthcare professionals through high-quality instruction, hands-on training, and adherence to state and federal standards.
Key Responsibilities
· Teach classroom, laboratory, and clinical components of the Nursing Assistant Training Program.
· Prepare students for the Florida CNA competency examination.
· Demonstrate and reinforce safe patient care techniques, infection control, communication, professionalism, and basic nursing skills.
· Evaluate student performance through classroom instruction, laboratory practice, clinical observations, and skills assessments.
· Maintain accurate attendance, grading, and student records in accordance with college policies.
· Ensure compliance with Florida Board of Nursing requirements, the Florida Department of Health, and applicable federal and state regulations.
· Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
· Participate in instructor onboarding, required meetings, and professional development activities.
Minimum Qualifications
· Current, unrestricted Florida Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
· Minimum of two (2) years of nursing experience, including at least one (1) year providing care to older adults or chronically ill patients.
· Eligible to serve as a Nursing Assistant instructor under Florida Board of Nursing and Florida Administrative Code requirements.
· Current CPR certification for Healthcare Providers.
· Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to teach and mentor adult learners.
Preferred Qualifications
· Previous experience teaching Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) students.
· Experience supervising students in clinical settings.
· Postsecondary teaching or workforce training experience.
· Experience using learning management systems such as Canvas.
· Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher preferred.
