Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and professionally, providing outstanding customer service and ensuring a positive first impression.
- Schedule appointments efficiently using dental office management software coordinating with clinical staff to optimize daily workflows.
- Verify insurance benefits and coverage details through insurance portals and perform insurance eligibility checks to facilitate smooth billing processes.
- Collect payments, process co-pays, and handle financial transactions accurately while maintaining confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Manage patient check-in and check-out procedures, updating electronic health records (EHR systems) with accurate documentation review and data entry.
- Answer multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette, addressing patient inquiries promptly and routing calls appropriately.
- Maintain organized dental records, ensuring compliance with health information management standards.
- Support clinic operations by performing clerical duties such as filing, faxing, scanning documents, and managing office supplies.
- Collaborate with team members on care plans, documentation review, and administrative support to enhance overall clinic efficiency.
- Stay current on HIPAA guidelines and best practices for health information security to protect patient privacy at all times.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Dental Receptionist in a clinical setting; dental office experience is mandatory.
- Familiarity with medical billing procedures including insurance verification, and Medicare and Medicaid claims processing.
- Excellent computer skills and familiarity with clinic management software.
- Knowledge of dental terminology to accurately interpret clinical notes and documentation.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Exceptional customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette; bilingual abilities are a plus for effective communication with diverse patient populations.
- Strong organizational skills for filing, record keeping, appointment scheduling, and documentation review.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and health information management standards to ensure confidentiality and compliance.
