Full Job Description

Job Title: Phlebotomy Technician

Location: Nellis AFB, Nevada
Pay: $19.15 - 24.24/hour
Schedule: Monday – Friday with 8–10-hour shifts between the hours of 0600 and 2000. Shifts are normally scheduled for a 9-hour period, to include an uncompensated 60-minute lunch break

Qualifications:

Degree/Education: Certificate. Graduate from a medical phlebotomist-training program accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or educational program accepted by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP).
Board Certification: Certification/registration as determined by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), or AMT as specified in the TO
Experience: Must have the required clinical hours required by the certification institution. 1 year experience is preferred.
Duties: Collect blood samples from patients, Practice proper patient identification, especially when working on hospital floors, Label vials with patient names and dates, Decipher the best method for drawing blood depending on the specific patient Transport all specimen samples to a nearby laboratory, Centrifuge blood samples, depending on if this is allowed in the state you are working in, Expect to work with a large number of patients varying in age and health status, Practice infection control and Personal Protective Equipment standards, Complete extensive standardized training and demonstrate competency to perform each job function and commit to perform only those tasks for which documented training has been completed, Provide instruction and training as requested following designation of Preceptor/Instructor status, Perform other duties directly related to the core duties of a Phlebotomy Technician provided above.
