Position Summary
The Housekeeping Room Attendant is responsible for cleaning and preparing assigned guest rooms to ensure they are clean, sanitized, fully stocked, and ready for arriving guests. This position plays a vital role in providing guests with a comfortable, welcoming, and enjoyable stay by maintaining the hotel's high standards of cleanliness.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Clean assigned guest rooms according to hotel and brand standards.
- Make beds with clean linens and replace all used bedding and towels.
- Clean and sanitize bathrooms, including toilets, tubs, showers, sinks, mirrors, countertops, and floors.
- Dust and wipe all furniture, fixtures, lamps, headboards, and other room furnishings.
- Vacuum carpets and rugs.
- Sweep and mop hard surface floors.
- Empty trash containers and replace liners.
- Restock towels, washcloths, bath mats, toiletries, coffee supplies, cups, and other guest amenities.
- Remove stains, debris, and odors to ensure rooms are guest-ready.
- Report any maintenance concerns, damaged items, or missing inventory to management promptly.
- Handle lost and found items according to hotel policy.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked housekeeping cart.
- Follow all hotel safety procedures and properly use cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Complete assigned rooms within the scheduled shift while maintaining quality and productivity standards.
- Perform periodic deep-cleaning tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous housekeeping experience is preferred but not required.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
- Dependable with excellent attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to:
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Frequently bend, kneel, squat, reach, and twist.
- Push and pull a fully stocked housekeeping cart.
- Lift and carry up to 35 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds with assistance.
- Perform repetitive cleaning tasks throughout the workday.
Work Schedule
- Scheduled shifts begin at 9:00 AM.
- End times vary based on hotel occupancy and the number of assigned rooms.
- Weekend availability is mandatory.
- Holiday work is required based on business needs.
Attendance Expectations
Reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.
Employees are expected to:
- Report to work on time and prepared for their scheduled shift.
- Maintain dependable attendance.
- Notify management as soon as possible if they are unable to report to work or will be late, in accordance with hotel attendance policies.
- Understand that excessive absenteeism, tardiness, or failure to properly notify management may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
Performance Expectations
Housekeeping Room Attendants are expected to:
- Clean assigned rooms thoroughly and efficiently according to hotel standards.
- Complete all assigned rooms before the end of the shift unless otherwise directed by management.
- Report maintenance issues immediately.
- Follow all hotel policies and safety procedures.
- Maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude.
- Treat guests, coworkers, and hotel property with respect.
- Demonstrate reliability, accountability, and teamwork every day.
Pay: $11.00 - $12.00 per hour
