Special Instructions to Applicants
Applicants are asked to electronically submit a cover letter, a current CV, a well-written teaching philosophy, and a brief research proposal. Please keep your cover letter to no more than two (2) pages, your teaching philosophy to no more than three (3) pages, and your research proposal to no more than (3) pages. The teaching philosophy should focus specifically on your experience or philosophy for teaching geology (broadly defined). A brief research proposal should focus on research work that can be conducted with undergraduates as part of your career development.
Graduate and undergraduate transcripts will be required. Please upload the transcripts under the “Transcript” tab. Official transcripts will be due prior to appointment.
At least three references are required prior to hiring. Please provide the contact information, in particular the phone numbers and email addresses, for at least three references who can speak to the applicant’s ability to teach effectively and conduct research. Recommended candidates will be required to complete criminal background check, including Act 34 Background Check and Act 151 (Child Abuse) Background Check and Federal Criminal (FBI) clearance prior to appointment.
