The Black Currant Bakehouse is looking for a Barista/Counter Clerk!
If you've got barista experience, we want to hear from you! This position requires some flexibility, as we need someone for full time (approximately 40 hours a week) until around Labor Day, and then hours would taper off a little after that. During the winter months, hours would most likely be just Saturdays and Sundays.
Summer Schedule:
Thursday through Monday, 7:30 to 3:30 eastern time
Duties
- Prepare and serve coffee/espresso drinks according to Black Currant standards
- Operate Square POS system accurately and efficiently
- Handle cash register operations, process cash and card payments, give correct change
- Maintain cleanliness of the café area, including food prep stations, counters, seating areas, and equipment in compliance with food safety standards
- Assist customers with boxing up pastries, answer questions about products, and provide outstanding customer service to enhance their experience
- Restock supplies such as cups, lids, napkins, and ingredients to ensure smooth daily operations
- Follow proper food handling procedures during beverage preparation and food service to ensure safety and quality
- Make sandwiches when needed
Requirements
- Previous experience as a barista is preferred
- Proficiency with simple POS systems like Square is preferred
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to engage positively with diverse guests
- Basic math skills for cash handling, giving correct change, and inventory counting
- Knowledge of food safety standards and proper food handling techniques
- Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks during busy periods
