Role Overview
Behind every confident decision our leadership makes is a set of numbers somebody got exactly right. In this seat, that somebody is you. The Staff Accountant owns the day-to-day financial operations of a growing eight-figure business including the books, the reconciliations, and the reporting rhythm everything else depends on. Working closely with our Controller, you'll keep our books clean, our reporting reliable, and our financial operations running so smoothly that nobody has to wonder about the numbers because you already got them right. This is a hands-on role in a company small enough that your accuracy is visible, your work matters every day, and getting the details right is a point of pride, not a chore.
What You'll Do
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoice processing, customer collections, vendor payments, and resolution of payment discrepancies.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and general ledger accounts on a regular and timely basis.
- Perform timely reconciliations of bank accounts, credit card statements, and general ledger accounts to ensure financial accuracy and integrity.
- Assist with monthly balance sheet account reconciliations and investigate variances as needed.
- Prepare and post monthly journal entries in accordance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
- Assist in the preparation, calculation, and review of monthly commission reports to ensure accuracy and timely payment.
- Support the month-end close process by completing assigned accounting tasks and meeting reporting deadlines.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports and supporting schedules for management review.
- Contribute to the annual budgeting process by compiling financial data and supporting budget analyses.
- Support the maintenance and enhancement of internal controls to promote compliance, accuracy, and efficient financial operations.
You Have Experience That Looks Like
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field
- 2+ years in a staff accountant seat where AP/AR, reconciliations, and the general ledger were core to your responsibility
- Solid understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and general ledger management - you know how to apply it without looking it up
- Demonstrated proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel.
- A track record of hitting deadlines independently, month after month and the ability to work effectively in a fast-faced environment where priorities can shift from day-to-day
- Clear written and verbal communication, you're comfortable walking non-finance teammates through financial information
- High degree of accuracy, attention to detail, and professional integrity.
- You’ve worked in a small business environment (under 50 employees) so you know what it means to be the team not just a small piece in a big finance department (Preferred)
- CPA license or active CPA candidacy (Preferred)
- Experience in supporting leadership with financial reporting and strategic analysis (Preferred)
- Familiarity with tools such as Monday.com, Bill.com, HubSpot, etc. (Preferred)
Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
