Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Coordinator to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment for students with diverse needs, including those with developmental disabilities, and other special education requirements. This role involves developing individualized education plans (IEPs), implementing effective teaching strategies, and collaborating with parents and support staff to ensure the academic and social success of each student.
The South Bronx Charter School for International Cultures & the Arts is looking for special education coordinator/SETSS provider who will develop and teach engaging lessons that follow the curriculum and provide individual or small group instruction for students who require additional academic support.
You will utilize the student's IEP's to create instructional assessments that provide meaningful measurements of a student's growth towards their goals. Develop and lend an elective course that is within the teacher skill set and matches student interest. Integrate feedback and goal setting into lesson delivery and demonstrate a commitment to creating an inclusive environment for all students.
Job Requirements:
- Differentiate small group instruction for students with special needs
- Prepare student individualized education plans in consultation with staff and families to ensure success for all scholars
- Utilize formal and informal assessment data to drive instruction and ensure student mastery of standards
- Build a warm and inclusive classroom environment
- Create and maintain strong relationships with students and families
- Actively participate in grade-level meetings, collaboratively planning and professional development
- Accept ultimate responsibility for the academic progress of students, and work to actively overcome setbacks
- Collaborate and plan with classroom teachers in both English and Spanish
Qualifications
- Master's Degree and NYS certification required
- Bi-lingual Spanish preferred
- Professional in the content area he/she will be teaching
- Ability to create a classroom environment where students feel safe, supported and challenged
- Passion and commitment to teaching scholars in underserved areas and to closing the achievement gap
- Relentless drive to set and achieve ambitious goals
- Strong collaboration and teamwork skills
- Growth mindset and ability to use feedback to improve practice
- Special Education Certification or highly qualified
Salary is Commensurate with Experience
Pay: $65,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
