What You Will Do
As an Automation Technician, you will be responsible for setting up, configuring, start-ups, and troubleshooting instrumentation, wiring, controls, and PLCs.
A Typical Day at Prime Controls

Learns site operational processes to understand desired objectives and functions of instrumentation and controls. Reviews plans and schematics.

Connects instruments and confirms proper operation.

Sets up instrumentation at job sites. Configures instruments using calibration, start-up reports, documentation, schematics, and manufacturers’ specifications.

Performs basic PLC and HMI programming tasks.

During the start-up phase of system implementation, performs electrical terminations and testing to assure that wiring and controls are properly installed and performing the correct functions.

Verifies and test all points of the design layout.

Troubleshoots problems during start-up. Repair often involves review and adjustments to programming where necessary.

May perform service calls. Performs work orders during the day as well as “on-call” periods for after-hours support. Troubleshoots wiring, equipment, and PLC/HMI code.

Contributes to projects, such as submittals, specification review, and assessment of drawings and schematics.
What You Will Bring

Must be able to use hand tools, pressure pumps, and electrical meters of all types.
