MHMATTERS365 is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and motivated Associate Licensed Counselor (ALC) to join our growing outpatient mental health team in Montgomery, Alabama.
The ideal candidate will provide high-quality psychotherapy services to children, adolescents, and adults experiencing a variety of emotional, behavioral, and mental health concerns. This position is a great opportunity for an ALC looking to grow their clinical experience and build a caseload in a supportive, collaborative environment.
Applicants must have their own approved clinical supervisor in accordance with Alabama Board of Examiners in Counseling requirements. MHMATTERS365 does not provide ALC supervision.
Responsibilities
- Provide individual psychotherapy to children, adolescents, and adults.
- Complete behavioral health assessments and individualized treatment plans.
- Provide evidence-based counseling for concerns including anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, anger and emotional regulation, behavioral challenges, self-esteem, school stress, and relationship concerns.
- Develop and update measurable treatment goals based on client needs and progress.
- Complete timely and accurate progress notes and other required clinical documentation in the electronic health record.
- Monitor client progress and adjust therapeutic interventions as clinically appropriate.
- Conduct suicide and safety risk assessments when indicated and follow established crisis procedures.
- Coordinate care with psychiatric providers, primary care providers, schools, caregivers, and other members of the treatment team when appropriate.
- Provide psychoeducation and appropriate community resources to clients and families.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, ethical standards, MHMATTERS365 policies, and applicable Alabama counseling regulations.
- Participate in clinical consultation and multidisciplinary care coordination as needed.
- Maintain all continuing education, supervision, and professional requirements associated with ALC licensure.
Qualifications
- Current Associate Licensed Counselor (ALC) credential in the State of Alabama.
- Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Counseling, or another qualifying counseling discipline.
- Must have an established and approved clinical supervisor and be responsible for maintaining all supervision requirements associated with ALC licensure.
- Must maintain active professional liability/malpractice insurance and provide proof of coverage.
- Experience providing behavioral health services to children, adolescents, and/or adults preferred.
- Knowledge of evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, behavioral interventions, and supportive psychotherapy.
- Strong clinical documentation and treatment-planning skills.
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems and telehealth platforms preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with a multidisciplinary behavioral health team.
- Professionalism, reliability, empathy, and sound clinical judgment are required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in an outpatient behavioral health setting.
- Experience working with children and adolescents.
- Experience serving Medicaid populations.
- Familiarity with ICD-10 and CPT documentation requirements.
- Experience providing telehealth psychotherapy.
- Interest in developing and maintaining an ongoing outpatient therapy caseload.
