Located in the heart of the Old Port in the former Bar Futo space, Ladyfish is designed to celebrate Maine seafood in its most joyful, unfussy form. Open May-October 2026.
The Culinary Program
You will work alongside James Beard-nominated Chef Christine Lau, whose diverse expertise in Chinese, Italian, and Latin American cuisines puts a unique spin on approachable seafood classics. Driven by sustainable sourcing and exceptional Maine-sourced ingredients, our menu features everything from local staples like lobster rolls and oysters to innovative dishes like Whole Fried Fluke Francese and Casino-style Little Neck Clams with Chinese sausage.
The Role
We are seeking a high-energy, detail-oriented Assistant Manager to help lead this vibrant seasonal operation. The ideal candidate is a warm, welcoming, and positive leader who is entirely all about the guests. You will work hand-in-hand with our General Manager to run smooth shifts, champion an exceptional hospitality culture, and support our incredible front-of-house team.
Responsibilities
- Shift Leadership: Act as the floor leader during opening or closing shifts, ensuring seamless service, high energy, and excellent floor presence without administrative overlap.
- Hospitality Champion: Cultivate an environment centered around warm, welcoming, and positive guest experiences. Handle customer inquiries or feedback promptly and gracefully.
- Team Support & Training: Help supervise, motivate, and train staff in steps of service, food safety, and POS workflows. Foster a positive, supportive team culture.
- Operational Readiness: Assist with daily opening/closing procedures, cash handling, and ensuring the dining room and bar are perfectly primed for service.
- System Efficiency: Support the management team in utilizing Toast POS and OpenTable to maximize seating efficiency and streamline front-of-house operations.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: Strong background in restaurant service or shift supervision, preferably in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
- Personality: A naturally happy, positive person with a deep passion for hospitality and guest connection.
- Tech-Savvy: Proficiency with (or a quick ability to learn) restaurant tech, specifically Toast POS and OpenTable.
- Leadership Style: Collaborative, organized, and excellent at communicating with both guests and team members.
- Adaptability: Ability to stay calm, focused, and efficient under pressure while maintaining a sharp attention to detail.
Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
