Duties
- Prepare examination rooms and assist with podiatric procedures, including minor surgeries and X-ray imaging.
- Take and record accurate vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates.
- Support patient intake by collecting medical histories, updating electronic health records (EHR) systems, and verifying insurance information.
- Assist with medication administration under supervision and ensure proper documentation of all treatments.
- Manage patient flow efficiently by scheduling appointments, confirming upcoming visits, and coordinating follow-up care.
- Maintain cleanliness and sterilization of medical instruments and equipment used during podiatric procedures.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure comprehensive patient care across outpatient clinics, hospital settings, or emergency departments.
Requirements
- Proven experience supporting podiatry or other specialty clinics such as dermatology, internal medicine, or urgent care environments.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy (especially lower extremities), physiology, ICD coding, and medication protocols.
- Familiarity with EHR systems for documentation and patient data management.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required; additional certifications such as X-ray tech or hospital experience are a plus.
- Prior experience working in inpatient settings like Level I Trauma Centers or Level II Trauma Centers is advantageous.
- Strong patient service skills with the ability to handle diverse populations including geriatrics and pediatric patients in PICU or Geriatrics units.
- Ability to perform clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, assisting with X-ray procedures, and supporting emergency medicine protocols when necessary.
