Groundskeeper and Janitor
Stiles General Contractors, LLC is hiring a dependable and hardworking Groundskeeper and Janitor to assist with maintaining the appearance, cleanliness, safety, and functionality of assigned properties. This position is ideal for someone who is reliable, detail-oriented, and willing to support both outdoor grounds maintenance and indoor janitorial duties.
Position Overview
The Groundskeeper and Janitor will play an important role in keeping assigned job sites clean, safe, professional, and well-maintained. Daily assignments may include outdoor grounds work, landscaping support, janitorial cleaning, site cleanup, equipment support, and general maintenance tasks.
Responsibilities
- Travel to different job sites as assigned
- Perform grounds maintenance, including mowing, edging, trimming, blowing, and general landscape cleanup
- Assist with pruning shrubs, trimming small trees, removing weeds, and maintaining landscaped areas
- Support exterior cleanup, including sidewalks, parking lots, common areas, and building perimeters
- Assist with trash removal, debris cleanup, and site organization
- Perform janitorial and custodial duties, including sweeping, mopping, restroom cleaning, dusting, and trash removal
- Operate hand tools, power tools, lawn equipment, and other assigned equipment safely and properly
- Assist with irrigation checks and report leaks, broken heads, or watering issues to management
- Support pesticide or weed-control related work only as trained, authorized, and directed
- Conduct routine visual inspections and report maintenance needs, safety concerns, damages, or supply issues
- Follow company safety procedures and site-specific requirements
- Maintain a professional attitude with customers, staff, and government/client representatives
- Complete assigned tasks efficiently, correctly, and with attention to detail
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Must be able to pass a background check
- Must be dependable, punctual, and professional
- Must be willing to work at different job sites as needed
- Must have reliable transportation
- Must be able to lift, bend, walk, stand, and work outdoors as needed
- Must be willing to perform both groundskeeping and janitorial duties
- Must be able to follow instructions and work independently or with a crew
- Must be safety-conscious when using tools, equipment, and cleaning products
- Experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, janitorial, custodial, pest control, or general labor is preferred but not required
Schedule
Schedule may vary depending on company needs and job site requirements. Some early mornings, daytime shifts, weekends, or adjusted schedules may be required.
