Responsibilities
- Help develop and implement engaging activity programs that promote socialization, cognitive stimulation, and physical well-being for residents
- Coordinate resident events, outings, and special celebrations that foster community spirit and resident rapport building
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation and activity outcomes to inform care planning
- Collaborate with caregiving staff, nursing teams, and family members to ensure activities align with individual needs and preferences
- Manage schedules for activities and resident appointments to ensure smooth daily operations
- Utilize Microsoft Office tools to document program plans, progress reports, and communication logs
Experience
- Proven experience in event planning or recreational therapy within assisted living facilities or nursing homes
- Prior work in senior care environments, including long-term care or home & community care settings
- Familiarity with Alzheimer's disease, dementia care, memory care strategies, and geriatrics best practices
- Demonstrated ability to build rapport with residents through compassionate communication and personalized engagement
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or special needs in a caregiving or therapeutic context
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to develop programs that cater to diverse resident interests and abilities
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications for documentation and program development
- Excellent communication skills to effectively coordinate with team members, residents, and families
