Assistant General Counsel
Schedule: Mon-Fri 9am-5pm
Salary: $165,000 - $175,000 annually

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Assistant General Counsel to provide strategic legal and regulatory guidance to senior leadership and business teams. This role will advise on a broad range of healthcare regulatory, real estate, contracting, corporate governance, risk management, and operational matters.
The Assistant General Counsel will serve as a key legal partner to the organization, with primary responsibility for healthcare regulatory compliance, real estate and facilities matters, licensing and credentialing, and complex business transactions. The role will also provide leadership and guidance to attorneys and other legal professionals within the Legal Department.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise senior leadership and business teams on legal, regulatory, compliance, risk, and corporate matters.
- Provide guidance on healthcare laws, HIPAA/privacy, mental health law, licensing, credentialing, and state and federal regulations.
- Lead legal matters involving real estate and facilities, including leases, zoning, municipal approvals, landlord/tenant issues, and related compliance.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of agreements, including leases, provider and payor agreements, affiliations, and other commercial contracts.
- Support mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, grants, due diligence, and related regulatory approvals.
- Advise on corporate governance and other general corporate matters.
- Manage or oversee litigation and coordinate with outside counsel as needed.
- Support internal investigations and regulatory inquiries.
- Develop and update company policies, procedures, and legal best practices.
- Identify and address legal and operational risks and support insurance and claims matters.
- Develop and deliver training to management on legal and regulatory topics.
- Provide supervision, work direction, and performance feedback to attorneys and legal staff.
- Stay current on changes in applicable laws and regulations and communicate relevant updates to leadership.
Qualifications
Required:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree.
- Admission to the Massachusetts Bar.
- 4–6+ years of relevant legal experience.
- Strong legal research, writing, negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, exercise sound judgment, and work effectively with senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive matters professionally.
Preferred experience:
- Healthcare or mental health law.
- HIPAA, privacy, and healthcare regulatory compliance.
- Real estate and facilities law.
- Contract drafting and negotiation.
- Corporate governance and transactions, including mergers and acquisitions.
