JOB SUMMARY
Homemaker Aides help older adults stay safe and independent at home by providing light housekeeping and practical support in their homes. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working independently, building ongoing relationships with seniors, and seeing the impact of their work every day. You travel between client homes in your own vehicle, follow a set schedule, and focus on making each home clean, comfortable, and uplifting for the client.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide light housekeeping in clients’ homes, including dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, dishes, and cleaning kitchens and bathrooms as outlined in the care plan.
- Assist with basic household tasks such as changing bed linens, doing laundry, and occasional simple organizing to help clients maintain a safe, tidy environment.
- Observe clients’ general well‑being during visits, note any concerns about safety or changes in condition, and report them promptly to your supervisor.
- Build friendly, professional relationships with seniors by treating them with respect, kindness, and patience during each visit.
- Travel between client homes using your own reliable transportation, manage your time effectively, and complete simple documentation of visits using provided forms and smartphone tools.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- A valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle to drive between client homes in all seasons.
- Comfort with physically active work, including standing, bending, kneeling, and occasionally lifting or moving up to 25 pounds while cleaning and moving light furniture.
- Strong people skills, including basic English communication, sensitivity to the needs of older adults, and the ability to build respectful, professional relationships.
- Ability to work independently, use sound judgment when something seems unsafe or unusual, and follow care plans and directions accurately.
- Ability to safely use common household equipment (such as vacuums and washers) and operate a smartphone and common mobile apps (like navigation and communication apps) to complete work tasks and simple documentation.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries while representing the County and using its resources responsibly.
