Equipment Operator III (EO3) will perform a variety of tasks including general labor and the operation of all street maintenance equipment at a mastery level. EO3 will perform daily preventative maintenance on motorized equipment and tools. EO3 will have the ability to perform many, if not all, supervisory duties including identifying and solving street and drainage maintenance issues and job tracking functions. EO3 will be familiar with the City's street and drainage assets and the ability to work without supervision.
Ability to sit, climb, bend, stoop, and stand while performing essential job duties. Ability to drive a vehicle to and from work sites. Employee will be exposed to seasonal temperatures while performing maintenance duties. Employee may be exposed to potentially hazardous materials. Employee will be exposed to work zones consisting of high-volume vehicular traffic. Employee must be able to lift working materials.
Minimum Education & Work Experience

High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)

4 years related experience
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
Preferred Knowledge - Abilities & Skills
Education/ Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years with the City of Midland or possess equivalent experience in related field:

5+ years related experience
-
3+ years’ experience training on/operating heavy equipment
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

General knowledge of safety standard practices governing the operation of vehicles

Skill to operate controls for required equipment

Ability to properly use, operate and care for tools, equipment, and materials

Ability to perform routine maintenance and minor repairs to equipment

Ability to read and understand vehicle operator’s manual

Ability to read and use city maps and documentation
