Job Summary:
The Mortgage Loan Officer will initiate the mortgage process for potential clients, preparing, analyzing, and verifying mortgage loan applications for the purchase or refinance of real estate.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Meets with and interviews potential and current clients to understand their lending needs including first-time mortgages and refinance of existing loans.
- Explains the differences between and approval requirements of various types of mortgages; prepares and presents a lending package based on client specifications.
- Assists clients with completion of mortgage applications, inspecting completed documents for accuracy and thoroughness.
- Reviews loan applications, gathers credit histories and reports, and assesses applicants’ capacity to repay and default risk.
- Based on predetermined requirements, assesses, and grants or rejects mortgage applications.
- Views or visits property for real estate purchase or refinance.
- Maintains knowledge of trends and developments in the local real estate market; current and predicted lending rates; and changes in rules, regulations, and best practices of various mortgages.
- Develops and maintains contacts with local realtors, developers, and builders to promote and encourage the use of bank services for residential mortgages.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
The employee may Work From Home as agreed upon with Manager; however, the majority of hours worked must be in an office setting due to the need to interact with credit union members.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. This position regularly requires long hours and occasional weekend work.

This position will be in Green Bay / Howard, WI, but can be hybrid work-from-home after training. Training program can take between 6-12 months, depending on candidate.
We are interested in people who are a great cultural fit, work well with a team, and support our Shoreline Hometown Credit Union in our newest and fastest growing markets in both Green Bay and Howard, WI. We are not requiring prior mortgage experience, instead focusing on the type of person we are hiring, not what expertise they have.
In-office work, after training, is primarily setting appointments with members, and various staff meetings. Candidates should be prepared to work with realtors, build a personal portfolio, and represent the credit union through community events.
