Ridgeside K9 Charlottesville is a results-driven dog training company known for its balanced training philosophy and outstanding client satisfaction. We specialize in obedience training, advanced off-leash control, and behavioral rehabilitation for dogs of all breeds and backgrounds.
We are currently seeking an experienced, high-level dog trainer to join our growing team. If you’re passionate about helping dogs reach their full potential and have a proven track record in handling behavioral challenges, we want to talk to you.
Key Responsibilities
- Run and manage board & train programs, private lessons, and client turnover sessions
- Build individualized training plans tailored to each dog’s needs
- Confidently handle dogs with aggression, reactivity, anxiety, and other behavioral issues
- Apply balanced training techniques including e-collar an leash pressure systems
- Maintain consistent client communication with updates and education
- Contribute to a professional, team-oriented training environment
Requirements
- 3–5+ years of full-time professional dog training experience
- Extensive hands-on experience with behavioral cases (reactivity, aggression, etc.)
- Strong grasp of balanced training methods (e-collar, leash pressure, structured routines)
- Comfortable handling working breeds and high-drive dogs
- Physically able to manage large and powerful dogs
- Exceptional communication and client teaching skills
- Must be dependable, self-motivated, and professional in demeanor
- Must have a valid drivers license
- Must be able to pass a drug test
- Must be able to pass a background check
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with working/protection dogs or law enforcement K9s
- Professional certifications (e.g., IACP, NADOI, etc.)
- Experience mentoring or supervising other trainers
- Strong media/social presence
