JOB As a Third Party Liability Specialist with the Department of Human Services (DHS), you will take part in meaningful investigative work that supports the recovery of medical assistance funds. You will review key documents, research potential repayment sources, and communicate the legal authority for DHS to recover funds. You will follow up on cases to ensure payment, while developing knowledge of laws and regulations that guide recovery efforts. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
This position supports the recovery of medical assistance expenditures by reviewing claims, identifying responsible parties, and ensuring that funds are properly collected. As a Third Party Liability Specialist, you will perform the following duties:

Claim Review: Analyze referrals from multiple sources to determine if benefits were incorrectly granted

Case Investigation: Investigate personal injury and estate cases through communication with attorneys, providers, and other agencies

Regulation Research: Study laws, regulations, and policies to interpret requirements and apply them to claim decisions

Collaboration Work: Coordinate with internal units and partner agencies to support efficient recovery processes

Record Accuracy: Maintain detailed case files, track significant events, and ensure proper documentation

Settlement Negotiation: Negotiate fair resolutions using sound judgment and diplomacy to maximize collections

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week

Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 3 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.
