About the Position
Hinton Barber and Beauty College is looking for an experienced barber who enjoys teaching and helping others grow. If you've ever liked showing a newer barber how to improve a haircut, explain a fade, or build someone's confidence behind the chair, this could be a great fit.
This is a hands-on teaching position. You'll spend most of your time working directly with students in the classroom and on the clinic floor while they perform services on mannequins, models, and paying clients.
What You'll Be Doing
Every shift begins with a quick meeting with the daytime instructor to review the day's plan and discuss the needs of Phase One students and students working on the clinic floor.
Throughout the day you'll:
- Work closely with Phase One students as they build their barbering foundation.
- Demonstrate barbering techniques using mannequins, models, and live demonstrations.
- Guide students step-by-step as they perform haircuts and services on clients.
- Help students troubleshoot challenges and build confidence behind the chair.
- Supervise client services to ensure quality work and a positive client experience.
- Coach students on proper sanitation, professionalism, customer service, and time management.
- Provide encouragement, constructive feedback, and hands-on instruction throughout the day.
- Communicate with other instructors to help keep student training consistent.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who is patient, positive, and enjoys teaching—not just cutting hair.
The ideal instructor:
- Is a licensed barber with solid real-world shop experience.
- Can clearly explain haircutting techniques in a way beginners understand.
- Has a strong understanding of clipper work, including standard detachable blades, fades, and tapers.
- Is comfortable working with both straight and curly hair textures.
- Understands that every student learns differently and is willing to teach one-on-one when needed.
- Has great communication skills and enjoys mentoring future barbers.
- Treats every client and student with professionalism and respect.
Our clinic serves clients from all walks of life, so we're looking for an instructor who is comfortable working with a diverse clientele and helping students provide excellent service to everyone.
If you're passionate about barbering and want to make a real impact on the next generation of barbers, we'd love to meet you.
