Responsibilities
- Assist experienced painters with surface preparation including sanding, scraping, caulking, and priming to ensure surfaces are ready for painting.
- Support the application of paint using various methods such as hand tools, conventional spray equipment, and airless paint sprayers on residential and commercial projects.
- Handle and organize painting materials, tools, and equipment safely on site to maintain an efficient workflow.
- Follow safety regulations diligently by wearing appropriate respiratory protection, using fall protection gear when necessary, and adhering to all site safety protocols.
- Interpret basic schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings to understand project scope and specific requirements.
- Help with minor carpentry tasks such as trim carpentry or fixture installation that support the overall renovation or restoration project.
- Maintain a clean work environment by disposing of waste properly and ensuring tools are stored securely after use.
Requirements
- Prior construction site experience or familiarity with construction painting is preferred but not required; a strong willingness to learn is essential.
- Basic math skills for measuring surfaces and calculating paint quantities accurately.
- Ability to interpret schematics, blueprints, or technical drawings related to construction projects.
- Knowledge of safety regulations including proper use of respiratory protection and adherence to OSHA standards.
- Experience with hand tools such as brushes, rollers, scrapers, caulking guns, power tools, and masonry tools is advantageous.
- Familiarity with surface preparation techniques like plastering or stucco application is a plus.
- Good physical stamina for standing, bending, lifting heavy materials or equipment throughout the workday.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to follow instructions carefully in a team environment.
