American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position requiring at least 18 months of Med/Tele experience and an NC or compact RN license.

Work in a 27-bed Medical Telemetry unit at a 109-bed, non-trauma, non-teaching community hospital designated as an Advanced Primary Stroke Center
-
Common patient diagnoses include stroke, COPD, chest pain, altered mental status, and GI bleed
-
Standard RN patient ratio is 1:5-6 (acuity dependent); surge conditions may increase ratios to 1:7-8
-
12-hour night shifts, 7p–7a, 36 hours per week

Every-other-weekend rotation required

No on-call responsibilities

Floating is required within Region 1, which includes Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, and Central Division facilities (CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH – peds only); candidates who are not willing to float to all facilities in the region should not apply

EMR: Epic (experience preferred)

IV pumps: Alaris; medication dispensing: Omnicell; monitors: Philips

Unit support includes CNAs, 24/7 phlebotomy, 24/7 respiratory therapy (RT), 24/7 hospitalist coverage, and telemetry monitoring technicians; charge nurse may or may not carry a patient assignment; unit receptionist/HUC available on day shift only

Active NC RN license or compact RN license currently in hand

Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required

Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele experience required, with most recent experience within the last year

Required skills include stroke experience and NIH assessments, chest tube management, PIV starts, trach care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, NGT placement, and drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley insertion/management, etc.)

Experience managing medication drips including cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and IVF required

Candidate's permanent address must be located more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted

At least 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN is required for consideration

Orientation includes a new employee orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation

Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays

Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; any hours missed due to approved time off must be made up by extending the contract

Schedule is posted in 6-week cycles
