American Traveler is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) with at least 2 years of OR experience and broad multi-specialty scrub skills for a 13-week General Surgery unit assignment in New Braunfels, TX.

Patient population includes minimal pediatrics with service lines spanning GI, general surgery, urology, GYN, vascular, ortho, neuro, robotics (Xi, DV5, and ION), reconstructive plastics, podiatry, and cardiovascular (a plus but not required)

GI cases are especially important as the facility does not have a dedicated GI team — OR staff covers GI cases both on-call and during regular weekday hours

Four available shifts on a Monday–Friday schedule: 0630–1500 (x2 positions), 1100–1930 (x1 position), and 1400–2230 (x1 position)

13-week contract with 5 days/8-hour shifts per week

Epic EMR experience highly preferred

Minimum of 2 years of surgical technology experience

CST credential or active LVN/LPN license required; license required if applicable

BLS certification required (AHA only)

High school diploma or equivalent required

Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program or accredited LVN/LPN program required

Proficiency scrubbing at least 3 specialty areas highly preferred (e.g., transplants, open heart, urology, neurology, titanium rib, robotics)

Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are subject to a radius rule

All requests for time off must be submitted and approved prior to hire

Establishes and maintains the sterile field; passes instruments and sutures to the physician as directed

Prepares the OR by setting up tables, instruments, and supplies according to case type, using physician preference cards as a starting point

Responsible for keeping physician preference cards current and complete

Prepares patient skin for surgery and positions patients according to the type of surgical procedure

Identifies, handles, and cares for biological specimens appropriately
-
Monitors and controls the surgical environment including traffic control, dress code compliance, and OR sanitation policies

Adheres to Universal Barrier Precautions and aseptic technique at all times

Familiar with facility policies on decontamination, processing, and sterilization of instruments and supplies

Transports patients to and from the OR suite and provides comfort and support for pre-operative patients
