2nd Shift Production Team Member – PowerReel
Location: Harlan, Iowa
Shift: 2:00 PM – 12:30 AM, Monday–Thursday
Pay: $20.00/hour + $2.00/hour shift differential

Merge Associates is partnering with a growing industrial manufacturing client to identify the right individuals for this opportunity in Harlan, Iowa.
We are seeking dependable, quality-minded Production Team Members to join a second-shift manufacturing team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in producing quality products, and can work independently while contributing to a team environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for assembling power reels, cord reels, hose reels, and related components using engineering blueprints, work instructions, pack slips, hand tools, power tools, and various production equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble power reels, cord reels, hose reels, and related subassemblies according to engineering blueprints, work instructions, and production requirements.
- Perform hand assembly, repair, and production of parts and components.
- Operate a variety of hand and power tools, including drills, saws, rivet guns, soldering equipment, heat guns, wire strippers, and other equipment.
- Use equipment such as cable counters, resistance welders, drill presses, and anvil presses.
- Use measuring instruments including tape measures, dial calipers, continuity testers, high-pot testers, and weight/count scales.
- Read and follow engineering blueprints, pack slips, written instructions, and verbal directions.
- Identify and select the correct parts, materials, and hardware for each job.
- Understand and identify standard and metric hardware sizes.
- Perform visual and physical inspections of raw materials, purchased materials, components, and finished products to ensure quality.
- Complete first-piece inspections before continuing a production run.
- Perform in-process and final inspections and accurately document results.
- Maintain accurate production records, work orders, inspection sheets, pack slips, and timecards.
- Identify and report defective materials, faulty equipment, improper operations, and unusual conditions to the supervisor.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas and equipment.
- Complete required daily and monthly maintenance on power tools and equipment.
- Restock parts, baskets, bins, and other materials as needed and notify supervisors when inventory is running low.
- Properly stack, label, identify, and transport finished products and materials.
- Safely move materials and components between designated work areas and work cells.
- Follow all established safety, quality, and environmental procedures.
- Support and maintain 5S standards within the department.
- Contribute ideas for improving processes, productivity, safety, and quality.
- Uphold company quality, EHS, and workplace standards.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred; equivalent education and experience will be considered.
- 1–3 years of electrical or mechanical assembly experience is a plus.
- Manufacturing or industrial production experience preferred.
- Experience operating drill presses, cut-off saws, or similar industrial equipment is a plus. Training will be provided.
- Ability to use basic measurement tools and instruments.
- Ability to read and understand basic engineering blueprints is a plus.
- Comfortable using hand tools and power tools.
- Ability to identify common hardware, parts, and materials.
- Basic mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to read and understand basic written instructions, correspondence, and work-related documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
- Ability to follow established procedures and work safely.
- Good problem-solving and common-sense reasoning skills.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively to a team.
- Reliable and dependable with a strong work ethic.
