JOB PURPOSE: The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) provides assistance to people who are struggling with substance abuse. This important role will work as part of an interdisciplinary team and provide services in a residential setting. This role provides a variety of relationship based interventions including crisis intervention and emotional availability and other relevant services to all clients.
The BHT handles day-to-day client care, conducts rounds, oversees drug screenings of clients, records outcome measures, and ensures clients are following the rules and guidelines of the center. The role is managed by the Operations Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Follow No Matter What Detox’s policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Communicates effectively and works as part of a team, and must be able to pass competency exams for the position.
- Ability to create and maintain boundaries with clients and understand the limitations of a professional relationship within the work setting.
- Ability to complete required program documentation in an electronic medical records system (KIPU).

- Ability to follow a team of professionals who are responsible for the oversight of medical and clinical services in a residential treatment environment
- Ability to follow guidelines on cleaning the facility, use of cleaning chemicals, and washing linens as needed
CORE DUTIES:
- Work directly with clients receiving detox/residential services and professionally document in company EMR (KIPU).
- Document observations/milieu interventions in EMR/paper record.
- Professionally complete daily end of shift reports.
- Conduct AMA prevention and crisis intervention with immediate notification to Supervisor and Manager.
- Ensure safety of all clients through regular checks and client rounds.
- Conduct UA drug screen as directed.
- Group facilitation as needed.
- Lead and or sit in on groups and assist therapist(s) as needed.
- Assist with community outings, recovery meetings, and other off-site activities.
- Participate in staff meetings, team meetings, and in-service training.
- Check and respond to company email and BloomText messages every shift to ensure company-wide communication.
- Maintain ethical boundaries with clients.
- Process a discharging client in accordance with company procedures and document in EMR.
- Supervising the self-administration of medication.
- Comply with HIPAA and other mandates regarding client care and confidentiality.
- Provide professional individual and case management services to patients, as needed.
- Complete detox assessments and vitals.
- Maintain patient charts and document services according to local, state and federal regulations.
- Follow established Policies and Procedures holding self and others accountable.
- Motivate clients to seek engagement in programming and assist when needed as a mentor and coach.
- Conduct intakes, discharge, and initial admission assessments in a professional manner.
- Conduct outgoing shift change meeting with oncoming shift.
- Follow the guidelines for cleaning and maintaining the facility, noting on cleaning logs where necessary
- Assist in maintaining the look and cleanliness of the facility by reporting maintenance issues
- Safely manage the collection of UA tests with lab preparations.
- Provide transportation to and from group/AA meetings as indicated.
- Perform vitals and rounds checks, following “observe and report” guidelines.
- Responsibly assess clients levels of functioning performing COWS / CIWA.
- Offer support and comfort in a safe comfortable home setting.
- Other duties as assigned, indicated or directed.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum High school diploma or GED.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Registration with CAADE, CADTP, CCAPP
- CPR Certificate/First Aid Certificate
- KIPU proficiency
- Qualified candidates must pass mandatory health and drug screen, have had a tuberculosis (TB) test 60 days prior to hire or at minimum 7 days after employment, and complete and pass annual TB testing.
SALARY/BENEFITS:
This position provides hourly pay starting at $20/hour, commensurate with experience. Full-time employees are eligible for 80 hours of vacation pay (which begins to accrue after completing 90 days of service) and 24 hours of sick pay.
Full-time employees are eligible to enroll in the company's medical/dental/vision and 401(k) plan.
