Part-Time Museum Staff Member

We’re seeking an enthusiastic, customer-focused part-time staff member to work approximately 20 hours per week, with opportunities for additional hours. Fridays and Saturdays are a must.

- Work Shifts: Summer shifts can look like: 9:30 AM – 2:30 PM, 2:00 PM – 6:30 PM, 9:30-5:30, or 10:00 AM-6PM. During the school year, shifts can look like: 9:30AM-1:30PM, 1:00PM-5:30PM, or 9:30AM-5:30PM. There may also be opportunities to work after-hours events (Some may go until 11PM).

What You'll Do
Front Desk Responsibilities:
- Welcome and check in guests, process payments, and provide exceptional customer service.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe front desk area.
- Assist with museum opening and closing procedures, including daily admissions and membership sales.
- Ensure museum policies are followed.
Floor Monitor Responsibilities:
- Conduct walkthroughs of museum exhibits to ensure everything is functioning properly and areas are welcoming.
- Address visitor concerns proactively and assist in maintaining a safe, family-friendly environment.
- Collaborate with the Operations Manager to uphold health and safety standards, as well as assist with the daily cleaning and upkeep of exhibits.
What We’re Looking For
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- At least one year of experience in customer service or working with a team in an office or similar setting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and basic computer skills.
Skills:
- Exceptional customer service skills and a commitment to creating positive guest experiences.
- Strong multitasking abilities and attention to detail.
- Sound judgment and the ability to respond appropriately in emergency situations (CPR certification is a plus).
- Organizational skills with the ability to manage daily tasks efficiently.
- Spanish language proficiency is a plus, but not required.
Physical Requirements:
- Stamina to work on the museum floor for most of your shift.
- Ability to lift, twist, kneel, and stand for extended periods (up to 4 hours).
Work Environment:
- Operate in a lively indoor environment with moderately noisy sound levels and occasional crowded conditions.
- Use standard office equipment (computers, phones, copiers) and cleaning supplies as part of daily tasks.
