Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing and organizing dental instruments, ensuring compliance with infection prevention management and aseptic techniques.
- Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including general dentistry, oral surgery, implants, and more.
- Take and develop dental x-rays and 3D scans using advanced medical imaging equipment while adhering to dental x-ray safety protocols.
- Manage patient records accurately within electronic medical record (EMR) system ensuring compliance with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies.
- Record vital signs and medical history information, supporting the dentist’s diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Perform dental instrument processing tasks including sterilization procedures in accordance with infection control standards.
- Support front desk duties as a dental receptionist by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and managing patient flow efficiently.
- Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment while adhering to healthcare infection prevention and control expertise standards.
- Assist with medical documentation and coding for billing purposes when necessary.
- Collaborate effectively in four-handed dentistry setups to optimize patient care efficiency.
Experience
- Proven experience working in a dental clinic setting with familiarity in general dentistry procedures.
- Hands-on experience with dental assisting tasks such as chairside assisting, taking X-rays, and dental instrument processing.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and clinical procedures across multiple specialties including pediatric dentistry, endodontics, prosthodontics, and oral surgery.
- Proficiency in EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly desirable; experience with Curve or similar platforms is a plus.
- Strong understanding of infection prevention management practices including aseptic technique and sterilization procedures.
- Ability to handle medical documentation accurately while maintaining strict confidentiality according to HIPAA regulations.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting effectively with patients of all ages—including pediatrics—and team members alike.
