Overview
Mayslake Village, a faith-based nonprofit and leader in affordable independent living for seniors since 1965. We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Part-Time Registered Nurse (RN) / Director of Wellness to join our dynamic team. Located on a beautiful 55-acre campus in Oak Brook, Illinois, Mayslake Village is home to more than 600 independent living residents. Our Wellness Center, staffed by nurses and administrative support, serves as a hub for healthcare services, provider visits, health education, screenings, vaccinations, and personalized support—helping residents maintain and enhance their health, independence, and quality of life.
Duties
- Build and Strengthen Partnerships: Serve as the primary point of contact for all on-campus healthcare providers and disciplines, including physicians, nurse practitioners, therapists, chiropractors, podiatrists, optometrists, audiologists, massage therapists, and academic partners (e.g., Midwestern University pharmacy students). Proactively develop and maintain collaborative relationships while continuously exploring new partnerships and community networking opportunities to enhance services for residents.
- Team Leadership & Supervision: Directly supervise and support a team of two RNs and an Office Manager. Create nursing schedules approximately 1.5 months in advance, approve bi-weekly hours, manage vacation requests, and foster a supportive, collaborative work environment.
- Operational Oversight: Manage daily Wellness Center workflow, including resident walk-ins, appointment scheduling, lab coordination (scheduling, retrieving results, and faxing to physicians), and timely response to resident health concerns. Be available by phone or text for urgent matters.
- Resident Support & Education: Meet with residents as needed to address health concerns, provide education on topics such as hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, wound care, medications, and other relevant issues, and ensure compassionate, high-quality care that promotes independence.
- Clinical Duties: Administer injections (e.g., Vitamin B12 or others) as needed until residents can self-manage. Complete required paperwork for work-related or on-campus injuries and notify appropriate personnel.
- Administrative & Reporting: Attend Senior Services/Wellness Center meetings approximately every 3–4 weeks. Oversee Wellness Center content for the monthly Acorn newsletter, including writing engaging blurbs. Maintain organized operations and support interdisciplinary collaboration.
