Job Description:
Continental Tide is seeking a motivated technician to provide technical support to Continental Tide’s extensive Hull, Mechanical and Electrical (HM&E) contract base specifically supporting the Sonar Dome Pressurization System. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Navy’s Sonar Dome Pressurization System program tasking out of the Naval Surface Warfare Center Philadelphia Division (NSWCPD).
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspecting and testing the structural integrity of the sonar dome.
- Performing preventive and corrective maintenance on related piping, valves, and control systems, including any associated plumbing and structural components that manage the sonar dome's water flow and pressure.
- Troubleshooting the Sonar Dome Pressurization System to include pressurized water, Low-pressure air, and electrical systems.
- Provide subject matter expertise to analyze and evaluate the operation and maintenance of the sonar dome pressurization system.
- Work closely with the engineers in the Combat Support Systems branch on execution of all tasks under our contract.
- Oversees and directs “Program-level” and/or multiple “Project-level” initiatives within the constructs of corporate initiatives and directives.
- Prepares Status Reports and works to ensure plans adhere to contract specifications and overall corporate goals.
- Relies on extensive experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals.
- A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
- Identify risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Familiar with 9090-310, NAVSEA Standard Items and NAVSSES 4790.2 Series Installation documentation.
- Performs other tasking/initiatives in support of the Combat Support Systems branch as directed.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of three (3) years of hands-on experience as a mechanical, electrical, or HM&E technician supporting shipboard, industrial, or maritime systems; additional experience supporting U.S. Navy or DoD programs is highly desirable.
- Experience working on sonar dome systems, pressurization systems, or similar hull-mounted or underwater systems, including water flow, pressure regulation, and low-pressure air systems.
- Prior service as a U.S. Navy Sonar Technician (STG/ST) or equivalent military occupational specialty is a strong plus.
- Demonstrated experience performing inspection, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of pressurized mechanical systems, piping, valves, control systems, and associated electrical components in shipboard or industrial environments.
Skills and Attributes:
- Has sonar dome diver qualification or capable of getting qualified to perform dome dives.
- Experience working on the Sonar Dome Pressurization System.
- Experience and knowledge troubleshooting navy electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret shipboard installation drawings, installation specifications and NAVSEA Standard Items is preferred.
- Must have or have the ability to obtain a SECRET clearance.
- Familiarity with the NSWCPD organization is a plus.
- Using and maintaining tools and portable power tools for repairs.
- Must have the ability to obtain base access and security credentials.
- Monitor compliance with company Quality and Safety Management Systems, Workmanship standards and Customer requirements.
- Due to export control regulations, this role is open to U.S. citizens only.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and execute multiple assigned tasks.
- Must have good written communication and be Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Approximately 25% Travel is required.
