Responsibilities:
Initial duties include office and field training for soil properties testing, construction documentation (field logs), inspections and environmental sampling (soil, ground water, surface water, gas), as well as other related duties as required. Training shall be implemented to ensure progression to more advanced responsibilities, such as communication with contractors, conducting safety meetings and construction surveying at job site. This position requires frequent daily and periodic overnight travel within the general Northern Illinois service region for the Lombard office. Compensation is in line with relevant experience.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Valid Driver’s license required.
- Capable understanding of construction inspection services, including documentation preparation and control.
- Ability to understand basic construction drawings.
- Ability to carry 50 pounds (testing equipment).
- Ability to utilize computer and hand held devices for entering field documentation and operation of various field instruments.
- Ability to stand and sit as needed on project work sites, outdoors, in a wide range of weather conditions, periodic weekend and evening work may be required.
- Ability to safely navigate construction work sites with uneven terrain for long periods.
- Two-year college degree preferred, but not required.
- HAZWOPER 40-hour certification or other OSHA training a plus.
