Who We Are
Watson’s Electric is a residential C-10 electrical contractor based in Gilroy, serving Santa Clara & Santa Cruz Counties. We do high-stakes residential work: panel and service upgrades, EV charging, backup power, and safety/capacity fixes in existing homes.
We’ve been flat around $1–1.4M for three years. The constraint isn’t leads. It’s owner-dependence on phones, follow-up, and estimates. This role is the structural fix.
Run it like it’s yours, get paid like it’s yours, without betting your house.
The Role
You own the front office end to end as a single revenue-capture function:
- Phones & booking: Answer inbound calls, qualify, and convert every qualified call into either
- a booked field visit, or
- an online estimate sent.
- Scheduling: You are the scheduler. You build and manage the board so trucks roll full and on time.
- Online estimates: Turn info (photos, history, scope) into clean online estimates using our ServiceTitan pricebook. Every qualified opportunity gets an estimate same or next business day.
- Follow-up: Work a tight follow-up process on every open estimate until you get a clear yes/no.
- Queue management: Live in ServiceTitan daily: open estimates, open jobs, “what’s stuck,” and move it.
- Accountability (including the owner): Part of your job is chasing what’s due from the owner and the field. If we owe a call, answer, or decision, you push for it. If you’re not comfortable holding your boss accountable, this is not your role.
- SOPs as you go: As you figure out what works, you document it. The playbook is a byproduct of your work.
You do not: run in-home sales, pull permits, or build marketing automation. Those are owned by other roles.
Scoreboard
You get judged on three numbers:
- Call conversion rate (qualified calls → field visit booked or online estimate sent)
- % of estimates sent within 48 hours
- Gross profit from the online-estimate channel you build and run
Who You Are (The Almost-Owner)
This reads like you:
- Currently run dispatch/CSR/ops at a residential trades company ($2–10M: electrical, HVAC, plumbing, etc.).
- 3+ years in ServiceTitan (or similar: Housecall Pro/Jobber) handling phones, dispatch, and jobs.
- You’ve owned a system or process for 12+ months and moved a number you can name (started at X, took it to Y).
- You have an owner’s mentality: you watch the scoreboard and act without waiting for permission.
- You’re a finisher: closing loops and grinding one metric up over a year is satisfying, not boring.
- You have backbone: you can push techs and your boss respectfully, and you don’t fold when something is uncomfortable.
You live within ~90 minutes of Gilroy and can be on-site weekly.
How You Get Paid
- Base salary: $85,000–$100,000 per year, depending on experience
- Performance pay:
- A share of the growth in gross profit from the online-estimate channel you build (over a fixed baseline the company is already doing today). That baseline is set once and stays fixed for your first three years.
- A per-appointment bonus on every booked-and-run field visit, with the amount tied to your monthly call conversion rate.
- Extra upside on jobs you personally convert that the company would have otherwise lost (online or “saved” after a tech didn’t close in-home).
First-year total compensation for someone who truly owns this function is realistically in the $95,000–$130,000+ range (base + performance), with room to grow beyond that as you expand and sustain the channel over years 2–3.
