Duties
- Assist with landscape installation including planting trees, shrubs, flowers, and laying sod or seed for lawns
- Operate hand tools and power tools such as shovels, trimmers, blowers, and small machinery like excavators under supervision
- Perform lawn care tasks including mowing, edging, trimming, and aerating to maintain healthy turf
- Support landscape maintenance activities such as pruning, tree trimming, irrigation system installation and repairs
- Help with hardscape projects by preparing surfaces for pavers, retaining walls, patios or walkways
- Conduct snow plowing during winter months to ensure safe access for clients and property owners
- Maintain equipment through routine cleaning and basic repairs to ensure optimal performance
Skills
- Mechanical knowledge to operate and troubleshoot landscaping machinery and hand tools effectively
- Experience with lawn care practices including mowing, fertilizing, aeration and weed control
- Knowledge of landscape maintenance techniques such as pruning, planting and irrigation system setup
- Familiarity with landscaping materials like mulch, soil, stone and hardscape components
- Ability to use hand tools (shovels, rakes, pruners) and power tools safely and efficiently
- Understanding of tree care including trimming, planting and health assessment
- Basic construction skills for installing hardscape features such as patios or retaining walls
- Strong work ethic with the ability to follow safety protocols in outdoor environments
- Willingness to learn about horticulture principles and landscape design concepts
