We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health and Substance Abuse Therapist to join our dynamic clinical team. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive mental health and addiction counseling services to diverse populations, including children, adolescents, adults, and individuals with co-occurring disorders. Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough mental health assessments and diagnostic evaluations utilizing ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding standards to determine client needs.
- Develop individualized treatment plans incorporating evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-focused therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and applied behavior analysis (ABA).
- Provide individual, group, family, and youth therapy sessions focused on mental health counseling, addiction counseling, grief counseling, and behavior management.
- Implement crisis intervention strategies to manage acute psychiatric episodes or substance use emergencies effectively.
- Facilitate specialized therapies including child & family counseling, autism spectrum disorder interventions, gender issues counseling, and chronic pain counseling.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation adhering to HIPAA regulations and clinical documentation standards within electronic health records (EHR/EMR) systems.
- Collaborate with medical professionals for integrated care approaches involving psychopharmacology and medical records review.
- Engage in case management activities to support clients’ ongoing recovery journeys and coordinate services across inpatient, outpatient, and community settings.
- Participate in clinical research initiatives to enhance treatment efficacy and contribute to the advancement of behavioral health practices.
Skills
- Extensive experience in psychotherapy modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, trauma-focused therapy, art therapy, dance therapy, and applied behavior analysis (ABA).
- Proficiency in motivational interviewing techniques to foster client engagement and motivation for change.
- Strong background in child & youth therapy, family counseling, pediatrics, geriatrics, special education, and working with individuals with disabilities or developmental disorders including autism spectrum disorder.
- Expertise in crisis management, crisis intervention, behavior management strategies, and social work principles within behavioral health settings.
- Knowledge of ICD coding systems (ICD-9 & ICD-10), CPT coding for billing purposes, medical terminology, and clinical documentation standards.
- Experience working with telehealth platforms delivering remote mental health services while ensuring compliance with HIPAA guidelines.
- Ability to perform comprehensive mental health assessments and diagnostic evaluations for diverse populations including those with co-occurring disorders or PTSD care needs.
- Familiarity with inpatient/outpatient clinic environments as well as hospital experience related to mental health treatment.
- Strong communication skills for client engagement, team collaboration, and interdisciplinary coordination.
