Overview
We are seeking an experienced Shipping & Receiving Specialist to take ownership of day‑to‑day inbound and outbound logistics in our manufacturing environment. This is not an entry‑level role. The ideal candidate is a seasoned professional who can step in with minimal training, work independently, and ensure materials and finished goods move accurately and efficiently through our facility.
In this role, you will be responsible for receiving raw materials, shipping finished products to customers, and supporting production flow through the plant. Your experience, attention to detail, and ability to anticipate issues will be critical to maintaining smooth operations, meeting shipping deadlines, and upholding safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently manage shipping and receiving operations with minimal supervision
- Safely operate forklifts and pallet jacks; ability to lift-up to 50 lbs. throughout the workday
- Verify incoming materials against purchase orders and accurately receive them into the ERP system
- Prepare outbound shipments using carrier portals including UPS, FedEx, and DHL
- Palletize and prepare larger shipments for LTL and full truckload pickups, including scheduling freight through trucking portals
- Ensure all shipments are properly packaged to prevent damage and meet quality standards
- Coordinate with production teams to move materials and finished goods through the facility efficiently
- Identify and proactively communicate discrepancies, shortages, or shipping issues
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment; strictly follow safety protocols during loading, unloading, and inventory handling
Required Experience & Skills
- Proven experience in a warehouse and/or manufacturing environment with hands‑on shipping and receiving responsibility
- Strong working knowledge of ERP systems (experience with Exact Max or similar systems required)
- Forklift experience required (limited use, but must be competent and safe)
- Solid understanding of shipping methods, freight coordination, and carrier systems
- Strong math skills for inventory counts, weight calculations, and shipping verification
- High level of attention to detail with the ability to catch errors before they become problems
- Ability to prioritize, work efficiently, and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
- Comfortable working independently with little day‑to‑day oversight
