Reinbow Riding Center
Reinbow Riding Center is a non-profit therapeutic horsemanship program located in Belmont, VT. We are looking for a seasonal Horse Caretaker who is available to check on and feed our horses on weekend evenings between May and October. If you are only available for part of the season, you are still welcome to apply!
Job Overview
The Horse Caretaker is a crucial part of our team. They will be responsible for the overall care and maintenance of horses and their environments, ensuring their well-being and safety. This role requires a hands-on approach and a genuine love for animals. The pay is $25 per visit for approximately one hour of work.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily care for Horses, including feeding hay and grain and water
- Monitor herd health and behavior, reporting any concerns to the Program Director.
- Cleaning feed and water buckets
- Mucking run-ins, when Reinbow horses are using them.
- Monitoring the pastures
- Assist in the handling of animals as needed.
Requirements:
Must (must) have horse experience, be reliable & have transportation. Experience walking horses to & from paddocks, able to lift 50 lbs.
Skills
- Experience in horse handling with a focus on care and patience.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in all kinds of weather
- Knowledge of horse care, and handling techniques.
- Strong communication skills to work effectively within a team environment.
Schedule:
- Saturdays & Sunday evening feeding (approximately 1hr/visit)
- Evening shift or as directed by Program Director
- Weekends
- Some additional shifts on week days, morning or evenings may be available throughout the season. We hope to keep this a flexible position for our team.
