Job Summary:
The Marketing and Events Supervisor is responsible for the marketing needs of the museum. Supervises the Museum and Event Attendant position. Coordinates facility rentals including sales, contract management, administration, and coordination of events. Works with the Director of the HOF (Director) and acts on their behalf during absence within parameters of job.
Essential Duties:
- Responsible for the marketing of the museum. Oversees yearly advertising agreements. Uses independent judgement when designing ads, maintaining and updating HOF website, social media, and email campaigns as well as any graphic design needs for advertising, marketing, and event production.
- Responsible for the facility rental contracts, markets the facility rental venues, provides site visits and tours, processes payments, coordinates with catering and other vendors and oversees the day of the event.
- Working with the Director, plans, markets, sells, and executes, annual fundraising tournaments and other events for the HOF.
- Works with Director to coordinate advertising for the HOF through radio, print, internet, television, social media, and other advertising venues. This also includes script writing, recording of promotional ads, and working on graphic design or advertising and other marketing materials.
- Supervises the Museum and Event Attendant to include recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, assigning, and directing work, and appraising and addressing performance and behavior.
- Create and design marketing material including brochures, business cards, donation forms, and more. Work with printers to fulfill needs. Respond to marketing material requests from news agencies, rodeo committees and other agencies.
- Track and report on the museum guestbook, redeemed coupons, and website/social media analytics.
- Responsible for HOF fundraising reporting including month-end reports to accounting.
- Process and fulfill donation requests.
- Ensures data is up to date on digital signs and touch screens
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, event management, hospitality, or related field and 1-year experience in marketing, event coordination and planning. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
- Previous experience in a museum setting preferred.
- Previous experience as a supervisor.
- Graphic design and layout experience preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with diverse populations.
- Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common financial statements and work with mathematical concepts such as add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
- Ability to analyze and solve issues in a professional manner.
- Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions using tact and diplomacy.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
- Proficient Microsoft Office skills to include Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Ability to work occasional non-traditional hours.
Work Environment
Most work is performed indoors in an office environment with little exposure to excessive noise and temperatures.
Physical Demands:
Requires lifting, exerting force, and moving objects from 20 to 50 pounds. Must be able to safely climb inclines, negotiate uneven surfaces, stairs, and ladders; balance required. Frequent movement, including walking and maneuvering in various parts of the building; bending and stooping. Ability to sit and stand, reach overhead and horizontally. Frequently operates equipment requiring manual dexterity, eye/hand and foot coordination.
