POSITION PURPOSE
Reporting to the Director of Food & Beverage, the Bartender is responsible for delivering attentive, knowledgeable, and efficient beverage and dining service throughout Jimmy’s on First and associated food and beverage operations.
This position prepares and serves classic cocktails, specialty beverages, beer, wine, and nonalcoholic drinks while providing a welcoming and personalized experience for bar guests. The Bartender is responsible for engaging guests, taking accurate food and beverage orders, providing menu recommendations, processing payments, and maintaining a clean, organized, and fully stocked bar.
Bartenders also prepare beverages for restaurant Servers and work closely with the entire front-of-house and culinary team to maintain service flow. During stadium events, concerts, private functions, and other high-volume periods, the Bartender must balance speed, accuracy, responsible alcohol service, and genuine hospitality.
Success in this position requires extensive beverage knowledge, strong communication, attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to remain composed and professional in a fast-paced, event-driven environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Welcome guests promptly and create a friendly, engaging, and professional bar experience.
- Prepare and serve cocktails, beer, wine, and nonalcoholic beverages according to established recipes, presentation standards, and responsible-service requirements.
- Take accurate food and beverage orders and enter them promptly into the point-of-sale system.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of cocktail recipes, spirits, beer, wine, menu offerings, daily specials, ingredients, and potential allergens.
- Provide thoughtful recommendations and use appropriate suggestive-selling techniques to enhance the guest experience and support revenue goals.
- Prepare beverage orders for restaurant Servers accurately and efficiently.
- Monitor guest consumption and exercise sound judgment when serving alcoholic beverages.
- Verify guest identification and comply with all Washington State liquor laws and company alcohol-service policies.
- Monitor bar guests throughout their experience and respond promptly to requests.
- Communicate effectively with Servers, Server Support, hosts, culinary team members, and management regarding orders, timing, and guest needs.
- Present guest checks and accurately process cash, credit card, room-charge, and other approved payment methods.
- Follow established cash-handling, payment-processing, and loss-prevention procedures.
- Complete bar setup, breakdown, stocking, cleaning, and side-work assignments.
- Prepare garnishes, mixers, juices, syrups, and other bar ingredients according to established standards.
- Maintain appropriate levels of liquor, beer, wine, glassware, ice, garnishes, and bar supplies throughout the shift.
- Maintain a clean, sanitary, organized, and visually appealing bar and surrounding guest areas.
- Assist with inventory counts, product rotation, receiving, storage, and waste control as assigned.
- Resolve routine guest concerns and promptly involve a manager when additional assistance is required.
- Support restaurant, banquet, private dining, catering, and special-event operations as business needs require.
- Follow all food-safety, sanitation, workplace-safety, and responsible alcohol-service requirements.
- Perform additional duties as assigned based on operational needs.
IDEAL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of two years of previous bartending experience in a fast-paced restaurant, hotel, bar, or event-driven environment required.
- Experience working in a high-volume restaurant or sports and entertainment environment strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of classic cocktails, spirits, beer, wine, beverage preparation, and responsible alcohol service.
- Previous food-service experience and the ability to provide complete dining service to bar guests.
- Cash-handling and point-of-sale experience required.
- Current Washington State Food Worker Card required.
- Current Washington State MAST Permit required.

- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, sporting events, and concerts, based on business needs.
EDUCATION
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
COMPENSATION
The hourly rate for this position is $21.30 per hour.
