Position Summary
This position is responsible for the safe operation of heavy-capacity forklifts to transport materials, equipment, and fabricated components throughout the manufacturing facility and yard. The Forklift Operator plays a key role in supporting fabrication, assembly, shipping, and receiving operations by moving oversized loads, structural steel, pipe, compressor package components, and other materials while maintaining strict adherence to safety and quality standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
(Include but are not limited to the following)
- Safely operate forklifts with lifting capacities up to 36,000 lbs.
- Load, unload, transport, and stage materials throughout the shop and yard.
- Move large compressor package components, structural steel, pipe, skids, and fabricated assemblies.
- Handle oversized loads, including 8' x 16' pallets and large structural components.
- Load and unload trucks and trailers in a safe and efficient manner.
- Inspect loads to ensure proper placement, stability, and securement prior to movement.
- Perform daily forklift inspections and report equipment deficiencies or maintenance concerns.
- Assist with shipping, receiving, inventory movement, and material staging activities.
- Safely operate overhead cranes and rigging equipment as trained.
- Follow designated travel paths and maintain awareness of personnel and equipment in the work area.
- Complete required documentation related to material handling and equipment inspections.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Follow all safety procedures, including PPE requirements.
- Participate in toolbox meetings and safety training.
- Comply with and promote all company PPE requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of forklift operating experience preferred.
- Experience operating heavy-capacity forklifts in a manufacturing, fabrication, steel, construction, or industrial environment strongly preferred.
- Current forklift certification preferred.
- Experience handling oversized, heavy, and irregular loads preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Experience with rigging and overhead crane operation preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Must be willing to work overtime and weekends as required.

- Lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
