Position Summary
Element Smart Control Systems is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Audio Visual & Custom Integration Technician to join our growing team. This position is responsible for the installation, programming, troubleshooting, and service of residential and commercial smart technology systems, including audio/video, networking, security, surveillance, access control, lighting, shade, and automation systems.
The ideal candidate is technically skilled, customer-focused, self-motivated and passionate about delivering exceptional smart home and commercial technology experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and configure residential and commercial audio/video systems.
- Install TVs, projectors, displays, speakers, amplifiers, and related AV equipment.
- Pull, terminate, label, and test low-voltage cabling including CAT5/6, fiber, speaker wire, coax, power, and control cabling.
- Install and service networking equipment including routers, switches, wireless access points, and structured wiring systems.
- Configure and troubleshoot smart home and building automation systems.
- Install and configure smart lighting and shade systems.
- Install and maintain surveillance cameras, access control systems, alarm systems, and intercoms.
- Program and configure control systems, remote access solutions, and mobile applications.
- Design, populate, and wire full-size equipment racks.
- Perform system testing, commissioning, and quality assurance checks.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues in the field and remotely when possible.
- Provide patient and thorough customer training on installed systems and technologies.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, service reports, and various administrative documentation requirements.
- Communicate effectively with customers, builders, project managers, and team members.
- Ability to travel overnight for training or installations as needed.
- Follow company safety standards and maintain a professional appearance on job sites.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum 3-5 years experience in custom integration, AV installation, low-voltage systems, networking, electrical, or related technical field.
- Basic understanding of residential and commercial technology systems.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, cable testing equipment, and computers / smart devices.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in attics, crawl spaces, roofs, construction environments, and on ladders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Control4, Lutron, Sonos, Araknis, Ruckus, Alarm.com, Qolsys or similar platforms.
- Strong to intermediate networking knowledge including TCP/IP, Wi-Fi, switching, and routing.
- Experience with any surveillance camera systems and access control.
- AVIXA CTS / CEDIA certification or other industry certifications.
- Previous experience in custom integration or smart home technology.

- Job Type: Full-Time (40hr/wk)
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8am - 5pm with occasional weekday overtime and rare evening or weekend work as required by project schedules.
- Location: Field-based with travel to client sites.
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
