Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Dental Billing Specialist to join our dynamic healthcare team. Responsibilities
- Review and interpret dental clinical documentation to assign appropriate CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) codes for billing purposes
- Prepare and submit accurate claims using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, ensuring compliance with insurance requirements
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective medical collection strategies, resubmitting or appealing as necessary
- Verify patient insurance coverage, benefits, and eligibility prior to billing procedures
- Maintain detailed records of billing activities, updates to patient records, and correspondence with insurance companies
- Stay current with changes in medical and dental coding standards, insurance policies, and healthcare regulations to ensure compliance
- Collaborate with the dental office team to resolve billing discrepancies and improve overall revenue cycle management
Requirements
- Proven experience in medical or dental billing within a dental or healthcare setting, with a strong understanding of dental-specific coding such as CPT codes related to dental procedures
- Knowledge of CPT, CDT and ICD-10 coding systems, and medical/dental terminology essential for accurate claim submission
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems used in dental practices for documentation and billing processes
- Experience with medical collection processes and resolving insurance claim denials effectively
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in managing medical records and billing documentation
- Excellent communication skills for liaising with insurance providers, patients, and internal teams
- Ability to adapt quickly to evolving healthcare regulations and coding updates
