General Summary:
The Aerospace Assembler plays a key role in building precision aerospace and defense components at our Lansing, Michigan facility. Key responsibilities include assembling, fitting, and installing complex parts and subassemblies in accordance with detailed drawings, work instructions, and quality standards. This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and commitment to safety and quality.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and assembly documentation to understand assembly procedures and specifications. • Assemble, align, and fit structural and mechanical components using hand tools, power tools, torque tools, and precision measuring equipment. • Perform drilling, riveting, bonding, sealing, and fastening operations. • Conduct in-process inspections to verify fit, alignment, and dimensional accuracy for a defect-free product standard. • Maintain accurate records of production activities, including logging time in an ERP system and ensuring the traceability of parts and work orders. • Identify, document, and communicate non-conformances or issues to the quality and engineering teams, and assist in resolving issues. • Maintain 5s standards and a clean, safe work environment. • Follow ATC safety, quality, and production policies, in addition to customer requirements. • Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives as directed by the Plant Superintendent.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Previous aerospace or defense manufacturing experience.• Ability to read and understand technical drawings, work instructions, and measurement data. • Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, torque wrenches, and precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges). • Strong manual dexterity, attention to detail, and mechanical aptitude.• Willingness to work overtime or alternate shifts as needed. • The ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate with various departments
Education and Experience:
- High school graduate or GED preferred • 1-2 years of experience in manufacturing, assembly, or a related field (aerospace or defense preferred).• Knowledge of AS9100 quality standards and lean/5S practices. • Experience with composite assembly, bonding, or precision drilling.• Basic computer proficiency for production and quality data entry.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8-10 hours daily, overtime/weekend support as needed. Position is set in a manufacturing floor environment; requires standing for long periods, lifting up to 50lbs, and wearing PPE.

Pay: $23.00 - $27.50 per hour
