Level 1 Cashier
Customer Service is a top priority for our cashiers. We expect our cashiers to be extremely friendly, outgoing, and personable. Eye contact, a smile and big Hello for every customer is an expectation and a requirement.
Cashiers will be required to learn the layout of our facility and know the location of all products in order to assist shoppers. Our Cashiers are also expected to assist customers waiting for checkout, scan customers items, request price checks, and collect payment. Cashiers are expected to have numerical skills adequate to give change as appropriate and to be responsible for counting the contents of cash register drawer at the beginning and end of shifts. During slow periods of the day Cashiers will be expected to help clean and maintain their immediate work area as well as light stocking and facing of shelves in an assigned area. Cashiers are expected to dress in a manner appropriate to a family retail setting and wear a shirt, jacket or apron displaying either an IGA or Country Foods logo. Cashiers need to be physically able to lift items, parcels and bags with weights commensurate to items normally sold in grocery stores.
