Position Summary
Performance Personnel Services (PPS) is seeking an experienced Finish Grader Operator to join our heavy civil construction team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience operating motor graders to perform precision finish grading on roadway, commercial, and site development projects. This position requires the ability to achieve final grade tolerances while maintaining proper drainage and preparing surfaces for paving.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Operate a motor grader to perform precision finish grading.
- Establish and maintain proper elevations, slopes, and drainage.
- Read and interpret blueprints, grade stakes, and construction plans.
- Utilize laser and GPS machine control systems when required.
- Finish grade roads, parking lots, building pads, and utility projects.
- Coordinate with survey crews, foremen, and project managers.
- Inspect equipment daily and report maintenance concerns.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance, including greasing and fluid checks.
- Follow all OSHA and company safety policies.
- Maintain productivity while ensuring quality workmanship.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3–5 years of finish grading experience.
- Experience operating Caterpillar, John Deere, Komatsu, or similar motor graders.
- Ability to read grade stakes and construction plans.
- Experience with GPS grade control systems (Trimble, Topcon, Leica) preferred.
- Heavy civil, roadway, commercial site development, or FDOT experience preferred.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- CDL preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements
- Lift up to 50 pounds.
- Climb on and off equipment throughout the day.
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Sit for extended periods while operating equipment.
- Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed.
Preferred Certifications
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30
- NCCER Heavy Equipment Operator
- CPR/First Aid
- Valid CDL (Preferred)
