Overview:
POSITION SUMMARY
Assist in the maintenance of inventory PAR levels, re-supply and restocking materials and equipment for the Operating Room (OR) Services. Assist with the transport/movement of patients through the OR Suite and PACU. Maintains the lab specimen log and transports the specimen to the Laboratory. Assist in the turn-over of OR suites, materials management as necessary, and attends all department meetings.

Must maintain a current valid certification of the following throughout employment:

Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
Experience:
Must have six (6) months experience in a healthcare setting

MENTAL AND PHYSICAL EFFORT

Physical:
The majority of work requires walking, standing, maintaining balance, and reaching. Must have ability to frequently bend, and twist, as well as occasionally sit, drive, climb, kneel, and crouch. Requires some physical exertion by being able to lift, push and pull objects. Must have ability to lift, push and pull up to 100lbs for a prolonged period of time, frequent ability to lift up to 50lbs and push and pull up to 75lbs. Will occasionally lift up to 75lbs. Sensory requirements for position include far, near, and color vision, depth perception, seeing fine details, hearing normal speech, hearing overhead pages, and telephone use. Position requires both hand manipulation in simple and firm grasping, fine manipulation, and use of keyboards.
Mental:
Requires minimal supervision in performance of job duties; is a self-starter. Prioritizes responsibilities to ensure completion of duties. Environmental:
May be exposed to infectious diseases, chemical agents, dust, fumes, gases, hazardous or moving equipment, and loud noises for a prolonged period of time. Wil frequently be exposed to extremes in temperature or humidity and occasional exposure to unprotected heights.
Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Re-supply and restock materials and equipment for the department of OR services.

Assist in turn-over of OR suites in-between surgical cases.

Assist in materials management which include but not limited inventory (Medline/OR direct), unloading of shipment when arrived, and organization of supplies. Communicates directly with department managers or designee in relation to distribution of supplies to establish specification and need.
- Upon receipt of package, verifies all packing slips against purchase orders or requisitions. Communicates directly with materials management specialist or designee in instances where quantity discrepancies exist between receivable items then reports all shipment discrepancies to materials management specialist.
- As directed by the Lead Clinical Nurse (LCN) or designee, transports/moves patient into, through and out of the Perioperative area.

Ensures that Lab specimen are properly logged, labeled and taken to the Laboratory in a timely manner.

Delivers/retrieves items from other departments within the hospital as directed by LCN or designee.

Maintain medical gas par levels, at all times.

Trains environmental services employee who will be assisting in the OR as needed.
- Ensure proper PPE is worn at all times while on duty including but not limited to, face mask, gloves, gown, isolation gown, NIOSH-approved N95 filtering facepiece respirator or higher, if available), and eye or face shield.
- Complete all donning and doffing tasks in a safe acceptable method and discard of used PPE accordingly. (see CDC website for most current updates)

Complete task training for all routine cleaning and decontamination processes for all surfaces contaminated by a communicable disease to ensure a high level of patient, visitor, employee, and external customer satisfaction.
- Performs additional task as assigned by the LCN or designee.
